Top 3 Crystals For Each Chakra

Jessica Roth

I previously did an article about Chakras+Energy+Crystals, and so this particular article will go a little more in-depth for each Chakra. Below are brief descriptions of each chakra, to help you determine which chakras might need support, and then I'll list my Top 3 Crystals for each!

  • Root Chakra (red): This chakra is at the base of your spine. It deals with basic survival instincts, feeling safe and secure. When this chakra is unbalanced or stagnant, it can lead to feeling lost, insecure, and anxious, manifesting as anger, lower back pain and hip issues. ***TOP 3 Root Chakra Crystals: Black Tourmaline, Red Jasper, Smoky Quartz

  • Sacral Chakra (orange): This chakra is located below your naval area, connecting with the pelvic area. It deals with creativity, passion, relationships & sexuality, and the reproductive system. When this chakra is unbalanced or stagnant, it can lead to depression, lack of fulfillment, stressful relationships, or menstrual problems. ***TOP 3 Sacral Chakra Crystals: Garnet, Carnelian, Orange Calcite

  • Solar Plexus Chakra (yellow): This chakra is located above your naval, in the stomach area. It deals with self-worth, confidence, emotional communication and processing life. When this chakra is unbalanced or stagnant, it can lead to feeling inferior, unworthy, stressed, and various digestion issues. ***TOP 3 Solar Plexus Chakra Crystals: Tiger Eye, Citrine, Yellow Jasper
  • Heart Chakra (green/pink): This chakra is located in the chest, near your heart and lungs. It deals with love, nurturing, joy, compassion and inner-knowing. When this chakra is unbalanced or stagnant, it can lead to sadness, jealousy, grief, lack of flowing love, as well as lung or upper back issues. ***TOP 3 Heart Chakra Crystals: Rose Quartz, Rhodochrosite, Malachite
  • Throat Chakra (blue): This chakra is located at the throat, and it is the center of flow and communication. It deals with speaking your truth, inner dialogue, expression and flow of messages between your heart, to your higher self, to your conscious mind. When this chakra is unbalanced or stagnant, it can lead to feeling like you can't speak up, express yourself, or connect with your inner-truth, sometimes leading to throat issues. ***TOP 3 Throat Chakra Crystals: Blue Lace Agate, Sodalite, Amazonite
  • Third Eye Chakra (Indigo): This chakra is located in the forehead area, between the eyebrows. It deals with intuition, mental processing and envisioning the future. When this chakra is unbalanced or stagnant, it can lead to overthinking, worrying, controlling and sinus or eye problems. ***TOP 3 Third Eye Chakra Crystals: Amethyst, Chariote, Purple Fluorite
  • Crown Chakra (Violet/White): This chakra is located at the top of your head. It deals with awareness, intuition, and spiritual connection. Chakra 101 and Using Crystals to Support

Jessica Roth

Chakras are part of your energy system, most of them are within your physical body. In a broader sense, you also have an energy aura, spanning around you 360 degrees. We have two main auras around us, but we mostly related to the one closest to our body. Think of this as your “personal space” that you often refer to when you say someone is in your personal space. That’s because someone really IS in your personal space. This energy bubble is approximately four feet around you, so whenever you are sitting or standing next to someone, your energy is mingling with that person’s energy. You can typically tell what their energy is like, based on if you enjoy standing next to them ;)
Now that I've given a brief overview of our energy body, let's move on to the chakras! There are seven main chakras that people refer to (well, there are more, but I’m just going to keep in basic today). The Root Chakra (base of spine – Red), Sacral Chakra (below your naval – Orange), Solar Plexus Chakra (above your naval – Yellow), Heart Chakra (Green or Pink), Throat Chakra (Blue), Third Eye Chakra (between eyebrows – Indigo), Crown Chakra (top of head – Violet or white).

These are within your energy aura, and they run through the center of the body. Chakras are smaller energy centers that connect to parts of our emotional being, energetic being and physical being. There is also a flow between the chakras, to keep things moving and connected. Each chakra plays a role in keeping things healthy, which is why there is an emphasis on keeping your chakras healthy; they act as an energetic filter. When external things come into our energy aura, they can affect us if not dealt with properly (emotional traumas, physical traumas, etc.). Those traumas then get stuck in our chakras, causing them to get blocked/stagnant, or unbalanced. From that point, we often start to feel these blockages physically in our body. Each chakra is connected to many different physical parts of your body, so if you are feeling something physically, you can often trace it back to the corresponding chakra.
A quick example: I used to have a hard time speaking up for myself. I had experiences as a child, when I’d speak up about things I didn’t like, it was often pushed aside. Therefore, I always felt like my voice didn’t matter. So when I went through a divorce a few years ago, and didn’t feel like I could speak up for myself – I had sore throats and coughing fits (from a tickle in my throat) ALL the time. I’d even lose my voice at times. My throat often felt raw, dry, tight and irritated… sometimes for weeks. This was because my throat chakra was blocked from all the times that I didn’t speak up for myself. It took me a really long time of consistent work to clear out all those past traumas. And when I would work on clearing them out, I’d feel my whole throat trying to tense/close up during the releasing. It was a long process, but I have a healthy throat now!

So how do Chakras and Crystals/Jewelry work together?

As I’d noted above, each chakra has a corresponding color. This is one of the ways that you can determine which crystals support which chakras…. A lot of times, this is by matching a crystal of the same color to that chakra. Granted, it’s not 100% accurate (and always go with your intuition if you feel drawn to work with a specific crystal), but it gives an easy way for beginners to work with crystals and chakras. A scientific way of explaining it: each chakra vibrates at a certain frequency, as do crystals, so when you want to support a chakra, you pick a crystal that has the same vibrational frequency. When looking books/resources, they usually don’t tell us what these frequencies are (it’s more information than the average person wants)… so they just make it easy and give us the easy to understand information of (___crystal = ___chakra). For example, when I was working on my throat chakra, I used a lot of blue crystals – Sodalite, Lapis Lazuli, Blue Kyanite, etc… I made a necklace for myself with blue crystals, and used the Balance Gem Water Bottle. These crystals help keep the chakra vibration at the higher vibration it functions best at, so that it can easily release the low vibration energy that was blocking it. Does that make sense? If not, let me know, and I’ll try to explain it from a different angle.
Did this help you understand the Chakras better?
